The Memorial

Dedicated May 1, 1966 to the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lived for ours.

 

A dedicatory stone is centered in front of the monumental staircase which states, 

"In these gardens are recorded the names of Americans who gave their lives in the service of their country and whose earthly resting place is known only to God."

 

 

 

 

The Court of Honor

Engraved below the mother figure known as "Columbia" is a sympathetic affirmation expressed by President Lincoln, 

"The solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the alter of freedom."

 

 

 

 

The Map Galleries contain the Armed Forces achievements in the South and Central Pacific as well as in Korea.

Maps of the recorded operations in liberation of or against the Chinese Invaders, Germans, North Koreans, Okinawans, Iwo Jima, Philippines and in the Pacific.
