Repatriation

8-29-00

US forensics specialists excavating sites in North Korea recovered remains believed to be those of 14 American servicemen missing in action from the Korean War.

It is the largest number recovered during a single operation to date. The 20-person U.S. team is composed primarily of specialists from CILHI.

This recovery operation is the 14th in North Korea since 1996.

5 remains from Vietnam were also repatriated this day.  The remains from Vietnam were recovered by members of CILHI and the Joint Task Force For Full Accounting (JTF-FA).
