Submarine Club of St. Petersburg, Russia Salutes US Military Veterans

November 12, 2001

The Russian Navy Submarine Veterans at St. Petersburg, Russia heard about the Kursk Memorial service we held at Pearl Harbor on August 28, 2000. This was held shortly after all hope had been lost for survivors.

At the Veterans' Day 2001 Memorial Service at the Submarine Base Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Paul Ferguson read an e-mail he received from them as follows, dated November 11, 2001:

"Dear Friends,

We hoist the colors to your honor and salute to the US military veterans.  We were allies against the nazi invasion during World War Two and now our nations are together again to prevent the new danger of international terrorism.

We are wishing you the best and raising our traditional wine-glass of vodka to your health and prosperity.

God bless you all,

Igor Kurdin, Igor Kozyr and all your shipmates of the Submarine Club, St Petersburg."
