"When
I was about 11 years old, my brother Anthony returned home for a
visit from his military service. As always, he brought the kids
a gift. This time, the gifts were POW bracelets. He pulled them
from a bag and tossed them to us at random. By chance, I
received a bracelet remembering Gordon J. Wenaas, who went
missing on December 29, 1967. December 29 also happens to be my
birthday. I still have that bracelet, and I have thought of
Gordon and his family for over 30 years. Recently, I came across
an article that said he and his crew had been identified and
returned to their families. To Gordon's family, whom I have
never met, I want you to know that though I never knew him, I
have never forgotten him, and never will. I wish you all the
best. Thank you for your service, Gordon.
